DIY Floating Deck – Garden Deck

Sharing is caring!

This backyard landscaping project was long overdue. I found it overgrown with weeds, unsightly A/C lines, piles of garden hoses, and sprinklers. After accessing what needed updating I devised a plan for the update which included a floating deck, new shrubs, and a custom cover for the A/C lines.

After planting new bushes on the backside of the house it became apparent that the area under the spigot was becoming a muddy mess so I placed some old pavers there until I  had a simple floating platform deck designed and built. See the photo below.

DIY Floating Deck Building

The area that needed the floating deck had to be cleared of everything and then leveled. After measuring the area where I wanted the deck built I designed a simple garden floating deck. Then I made a list of decking materials and supplies and tools I needed to complete the project.

Planting sod

This area started with overgrow shrubs and weeds and now it is organized and neat, but there are still areas that needed help. Muddy areas around the new garden needed sod and the spigot area needed a wood deck.

Additional Landscaping Projects

The Garden hose holder with a solar light cap was the perfect addition to the garden deck area see how we made that in an earlier post.

A/C line cover and drip pan (rain splash block) updated this area. See the video about how the drip pan was created below the photo.

Privacy screen trellis

My favorite outdoor project this season was the trellis we build with lanterns. See it below.

Solar Lanterns DIY

These showstopping solar lanterns I made with scrap wood from the trellis. I cannot wait for night to see them out my windows.

DIY Window Boxes

My studio was in need of some updates. I love the charm window boxes and shutters add to houses so I decided to build some for my studio.
