We planned to sell our house this past spring but the virus had other plans for us. In preparation, to sell the house we removed lots of items from the office (4th bedroom) so buyers could see the space like a bedroom too. However, since our situation has change I started looking for home office organization ideas.
I had a difficult time using the office space without the necessary storage. It was inefficient at best. To further complicate things both of our children are sharing the space with me. Our daughter, Olivia, is a blogger too and she needs a space to be creative.
Our son, Sean, is taking his classes online so he is sharing the space too. It is a small bedroom that has to work hard to accommodate all our needs.
Olivia made the gorgeous tray on her drafting table and it says it all. Living and working in this messy unorganized space has been stressful and I am ready for a change.

Looking at this before photo you see the number one problem I had in this office. Working file storage was nill.
At the end of this post, I have included some organizational inspiration and ideas for other areas in your home so be sure to visit everyone’s blog.
Office Organization

The shelf above my desk I used as a message board. I ordered two corkboards for the office.
Message center organization
I needed a simple old-school message and note organization solution, therefore, I ordered a couple of corkboards and some fun push pins.
The cute flower pots my daughter made you can see how HERE.
Just for fun, I ordered these cute little eyeglasses, phone, and pencil holders for myself and my daughter.
Wall File Storage
In the photo below you can see another area that was underutilized.
Remember those working files that needed a home?
These wall-mounted file holders make finding files easy.
The adorable sign my son made years ago and this looked like the perfect place to finally hang it up. The folders are waiting to be filled and the Cricut mat holder my husband made.
Printer Storage and Paper Organization
We ran an electrical line into the closet to move the printer into it for selling the house. It has been very inconvenient having to stand sideways in the small closet to use the printer.
We ran an electrical line into the closet to move the printer into it for selling the house. It has been very inconvenient having to stand sideways in the small closet to use the printer.
The filing cabinets that are part of my son’s desk are full of files, but no room is available for new folders. He has to store his books and papers on his desk and floor. The photo below shows the area next to his desk.
The rolling cart is full of papers and file folders that need a home. This is another underutilized area.
Therefore, I decided to build a shelf for the computer stand and add a higher electrical outlet to easily access it.
The open shelves have old mismatched binders, magazines, and patterns that need to be organized.
These magazine holders are a great storage solution for magazines, folders, catalogs, paint fan decks. Since we don’t have room for storage cabinets we have to store everything neatly.
This work space was a catch-all for any and everything. The pegboard was disorganized too.
Having a place for everything is going to help us to stay organized. It will also make everything easier to find.

Getting organized always makes everything seem so new and fresh, and you did an amazing job, pinned! I am actually in the middle of a much needed organization of my art room. I'm a bad blogger though, I didn't take any before photos, LOL. I don't have plans to write about it. I think I've done too many on my art room. Biggest hugs! K
