Prep Time15 minutes
Active Time30 minutes
Yield: 1
Cost: $30

Equipment

  • Wire cutters
  • Wire
  • Scissors

Materials

  • 16 tulip bunches
  • 4 yards 2.5-inch ribbon
  • 3 floral pin (U-shaped)
  • 1 styrofoam wreath form (14 to 16-inches)

Instructions

  • The first step for making this wreath is covering your wreath form with ribbon. I choose a 2.5-inch ribbon of the same color as my flowers.
I turned over the cut edge and used a floral pin to hold the ribbon in place.
Then I wrapped the ribbon around the form.
  • After a few wraps, the ribbon began to get twisted so I cut a long length of ribbon off the spool.
Next, I pinned the additional ribbon over the end of the first ribbon, then I continued until the form with covered.
  • In the end, I folded over the cut end of the ribbon and pinned it to the back of the wreath.
  • To hang this tulip wreath I needed a hanger that would not disturb the flowers, therefore it needed to have a hanger on the back.
I used floral to create a loop hanger through the center of the wreath form.
  • For this 16" wreath I used 16 bunches of tulips (bushes).
I used eight bunches in the darker pink and eight in the lighter pink.
  • To begin adding flowers, I used wire cutters and cut apart a dark pink tulip bush then I pushed the wire ends in between the rows of the ribbon.
  • Next, I cut apart a light pink tulip bush, then I added them to the wreath alternating with the dark pink tulips.
  • Once the wreath was finished I hung it up and then moved a few of the tulips around to evenly distribute the different colors.
  • Another idea for tulip wreath DIY is to use a grapevine wreath form and hot glue the tulips.
If you find mini tulips, you might want to pick up extra ones to fill your wreath.
Now it is time to hang my wreath on the front door and enjoy!
