Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Melt butter in a casserole dish in the oven.
Combine flour, one cup of sugar, and baking powder with a whisk. Slowly mix in the milk.
Pour the dough mixture over the melted butter (do not stir).
Place peeled and sliced peaches in a medium saucepan. Add fresh squeezed lemon juice and one cup of sugar over the peaches. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Place the cooked peach mixture over the batter.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
