Peanut Cookie Ingredients
Mom’s delicious recipe is for basic peanut butter cookies.
Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat.
What Ingredients do I Need to Make These Cookies?
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup room temperature butter (mom used shortening)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 egg (unbeaten)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (extra for rolling the cookies)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Tools and Supplies
- Stand mixer
- Medium bowl
- Sifter
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Spatula
- Half sheet pan
- Silpat
- Cooking rack
- Cookie scoop
Using a stand mixer fitted with the batter paddle, cream together butter, peanut butter, and sugars.
Next, beat in egg, vanilla, and milk.
In a separate bowl, sift together the rest of the dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, salt.
Beat the flour mixture into the butter mixture.

Roll dough balls in sugar
Use a cookie scoop to measure out one-inch balls. Drop the dough balls into granulated sugar.
I used spoons to cover the dough balls with sugar.

Using two spoons to roll the dough
Place the sugar-coated dough balls on a cookie sheet spacing them 2″ apart.

Place dough on baking sheet
Using the back of the fork, press the dough to flatten with even pressure. Then do it again, crossing the first lines to create the signature fork marks.

Baked peanut cookies
Bake cookies for 8 to 10 minutes. The cookies are done when the bottoms are slightly brown.

Notes
- You can use chunky peanut butter instead of creamy.
- You can substitute Crisco for butter.
-
Special Notes
- Since I am using butter for this recipe, I allow it to sit on the counter until it reaches room temperature.
- I like to use natural peanut butter (do not use the peanut butter that must be stirred).
- The dough can be made ahead of time then stored in the refrigerator until use (chill the dough up to 24 hours).
- Crunchy peanut butter can be used instead of creamy peanut butter.
- Mini chocolate chips make a tasty peanut butter cookie mix in.

Does anyone know if these are more on the softer side of a cookie? I don't really like hard cookies.
