Extra-large window treatment problem solved started with a simple phone call.
Before we go any further I want to share something: a window treatment is the finishing touch for any home and is so important to bring the room’s decor together. Also, they make a space warm and cozy and provide privacy and protection from the sun. I recently received a call from a client who was in dire need of window treatments for her family room.
I made an appointment to visit and measure her window. She informed me that they needed them up as soon as possible, but these window treatments were not going to be quick. The window was actually an extra-large sliding glass door.

The Florida sun was bleaching out her hardwood floors, in addition, making it impossible to enjoy family-time watching movies during day-light hours. Since the client wanted her panels to be operational (open and close) she would need custom hardware.
The size and weight of these treatments were a challenge. I brought fabric sample books to the initial appointment so the client could select her face fabric. While she was looking through the fabrics samples I measured the window.

My next step was to figure out what hardware was available that could accommodate this oversized window. Once I determined what hardware could be ordered in this extra-large length, I gathered those hardware samples and brought them to the client’s home. Most of the hardware samples that could work for her window would only be available to a designer. Luckily she called one so she had access to every option.
Once she made her fabric selection, I advised her that blackout lining and interlining would be best for this application.
After a few days of weighing all the hardware options, she selected a beautiful traversing rod and finials.
