Extreme Makeover Home Edition:
As a team member for the Extreme Makeover Home Edition I wanted to give back to my community. The family who needed a home was a hardworking and deserving family. My hope was to give them expert custom decor, thus hopefully bringing some joy to their home and lives.
Updating an Antique Headboard
This bedroom was inspired by Victorian design and elements. The pretty antique headboard got a coat of white paint and then we upholstered it starting with new webbing. We wanted it to be fresh and new, thus it would last for years and years.
After adding new webbing and burlap we added a layer of Dacron.
Then we covered buttons in the same fabric for tufting.
We marked the placement for the buttons with chalk. Then started pulling them through the front of the headboard.
This simple button tufting added just the right about of interest to the headboard design.
New Pillow Shams, Pillow and Duvet Cover
The pillow shams, pillows and duvet cover were custom made.
Antique Chair Transformed into a Stool
The antique vanity needed a stool, so we made an antique chair into stool be removing the chair back.
The stool needed the old rotted webbing replaced and springs needed to be retied.
After adding multiple layers of cotton the upholster fabric was neatly stapled in place. Now all it needs is cording.
The stool is ready for use at the antique vanity.
Victorian Chair Upholstery
Upholstering the Victorian chair was fun with white fabric on its face and blue and white striped fabric on outsides and back hence adding a touch of whimsy.
The chair needed more cotton and Dacron for comfort and to freshen the upholstery thus we replaced the guts of the chair.
This chair and bedroom is almost finished, therefore we worked into the night to finish it a day early.
This is real team working with Mr. Kippi at Home working on the back of the chair and I was working on the front.
It looks perfect fit for a princess.
