Banana bark is easy to make, like Christmas crack. They both are made by layering yummy ingredients on a sheet pan.

How to Make Banana Bark

This is a quick and easy snack for a little pick-me-up. It’s the perfect combination of sweet, salty, nutty chocolate and banana.

First step – Slice two firm ripe bananas.

Step two – Place banana slices on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Make sure the slices are close together, and their sides are touching.

Step four: Spread the peanut butter over the banana slices.

Note: Since peanut butter can be difficult to spread, I microwaved it for 10 to 15 seconds. Then I poured the warm peanut butter over the bananas and spread it with a silicone spatula.

Optional: While preparing the chocolate, transfer your sheet pan with the banana mixture to the freezer for a couple of minutes.

Step five: Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler over medium heat. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to the melting chocolate and stir.

Step six – Pour the chocolate mixture over the bananas and peanut butter, then spread out evenly.

Ingredients

Bananas – Select bananas that are ripe and very firm. Overripe bananas will not work.

Peanut butter – Smooth peanut butter or almond butter could be used for this recipe. Peanut butter is the perfect flavor to combine with chocolate.

Chocolate chips – You can use dark, semi-sweet, or milk chocolate chips. Dark chocolate adds a deep, rich flavor.

Coconut oil – Adding coconut oil to the chocolate helps to make it smoother and easier to spread. It also helps with tempering chocolate to make it set and stay shiny.

Peanuts – Chopped roasted salted peanuts add a nutty crunch.

How to Store Banana Bark

Store pieces of the bark in an airtight container in the freezer. The bark will stay fresh for a week in the freezer.
