Carrot Garland

Sharing is caring!

Easter is around the corner, so I decided to create a cute carrot garland for the mantel.

This craft is so fun and easy that even the kids enjoy crafting it.

My daughter made us an adorable Easter garland a few years ago, and I wanted to add a new one to my spring home decor.

So I decided I would try to make an easy paper carrot garland.

Cut Paper Strips

I used a paper cutter (this one is my favorite). However, you can use scissors or a Xacto knife and a ruler

My paper cuts:

  • Two orange paper strips cut at 8″ by 3/4″
  • Two green paper strips cut at 4″ by 1/2″
  • One green 4 1/2″ by 1/2″

The paper I used was 12″ by 12″.

Note: I used nine carrots for my carrot garland to hang on my mantel.

Mark Cut Lines

After cutting all the paper strips, I used a ruler to mark my cut lines with a pencil.

Mark and then cut the orange and green paper strips at the pencil marks.

I used scissors to cut the paper strips in this step.

Carrot Top Hole Placement

To make holes in the carrot tops (green paper), I marked up 1/2″ from the ends and used a hole punch centered in the paper strip at my pencil marks.

Note: These holes are for stringing the twine through to create the carrot garland.

Create the Carrot Top

To create the carrot top, I folded over the longest green strip and then folded over one of the shorter green strips on either side of the center strip. Next, I aligned the holes and bottom edges.

I used a bull clip and a staple to hold them in place.

Assemble the Carrot

To assemble the carrot (orange strips of paper), I placed one strip on either side of the green carrot top.

Create the Carrot Garland

I place my handmade wire loop through all the holes in the green carrot top to create the garland.

Then I placed the twine through the wire loop and pulled it through the green paper holes. Next, I added a wooden bead and repeated the process until all of my carrots and beads were added to my twine.

Note: I used nine carrots for my garland.
