Welcome back if you have been following along, however, if you are new to our One Room Challenge please take a look at where this makeover began with week one and week two. During this time we have all had our challenges just to find everyday items such as hand soap and wipes.

Our bedroom makeover is no different while trying to source materials and decor we have found that items are out of stock and the companies have no idea when or if the item will ever be available again. Okay, that means being creative is that much for valuable during this challenge. Please visit all the participants in the ORC and hosts so you don’t miss any inspiration.

Taking a Look Back

Do you remember those unsightly water-stained popcorn ceilings? How about those fogged windows?

I said a sad goodbye to them both this week, but let me clarify I was not sad to see them gone, but sadly I have missed out on my gorgeous view for so long.

This past week has been like Christmas in May with all the deliveries.

We have checked off a few big projects too such as replacing the windows and installing recessed lights.

Window Install

The most amazing thing happened when the old windows were removed I could see my flowers, trellis, solar lanterns, and my backyard.

Recessed Lighting

The overhead lights on our master bedroom ceiling fan are rarely used. We enjoy illuminating the room with lamps instead. The room has a 12-foot cathedral ceiling and the ceiling fan light bulbs do not illuminate the corner of the room, therefore we need more lighting.  We decided the easiest way to illuminate those dark corners would be with high hat lights (aka can lights and recessed lights) in addition to the ceiling fan lights.

The lights we installed are energy-efficient white LED recessed downlight was made by Commerical Electric they were in a four-pack for either 5 or 6″ recessed light can. Before installing the light fixture you can adjust the color from a wide range of choices such as warm white, soft white, neutral white, bright white to daylight with the integrated switch.

 

This how-to install recessed lighting video I made during the last ORC when we updated our Laundry room/Mudroom the technique is exactly the same.

These style of recessed ceiling lights have the baffle trim included with the light kit, thus making these easy and inexpensive to install.

I was so excited to cross off some more items from my to-do list this week.
