How to Roast Garlic
Roasted garlic is an easy recipe that only takes a few minutes to prep.
However, roasted garlic is so versatile and delicious that you want to add it to soups, sauces, dips, etc.
Roasted Garlic Ingredients
Garlic bulb – Look for fresh garlic bulbs without spots or green.
Olive oil – Olive oil adds a nutty green olive finish. Use extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.
Salt and Pepper – Add fresh ground salt and pepper to enhance the flavor.
Thyme (fresh) – Thyme adds a warm, sweet, peppery flavor. You can substitute for another fresh herb or omit the fresh herbs.

Roasting Supplies
Foil

Cut off the top (the end without roots) ¼ inch of the garlic bulb to expose just the tips of the cloves.
Place the prepared garlic bulbs in a clay garlic roaster or tin foil.

Place fresh herbs on the garlic bulbs, then season with salt and pepper

If using a clay roaster, place the lid on the dish, but if using the foil method, wrap the garlic bulb with foil and place it on a baking dish.

Bake for 40 to 55 minutes.
While the garlic is still warm, it is wonderful to spread on toast for a quick treat.

How to Store Roasted Garlic
Store cooled and peeled roasted garlic in a jar or air-tight container topped with olive oil in the refrigerator for up to four days. For extended storage, place peeled garlic cloves in a freezer container and freeze for up to six months.
