Why I Love This Recipe

These little flavor-packed sausage balls are easy and quick to make and
taste amazing. They are addictive, so make a double batch. You can spice them up to your liking and serve them with dipping sauces for a flavor explosion.

What Are Sausage Balls (Bisquick)

They are a cross between a cheese biscuit and a sausage meatball. Also known as sausage cheese balls. They will be your next favorite recipe!

What Type of Pork Sausage Do You Use?

The best kind of pork sausage is raw pork sausage in any flavor, such as regular, hot, maple, Italian, or sage. I would use maple or regular flavor if you are serving your sausage balls for breakfast or brunch. However, if you serve them for game day or a party, use hot sausage for a kick!

How To Make Bisquick Sausage Balls (Step-by-step)

To start, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Next, add pork sausage, shredded cheese, Bisquick, and milk to a large mixing bowl.

Now, combine ingredients with a stand mixer or by hand. I recommend wearing disposable food-safe gloves when handling raw pork, especially if combining the ingredients by hand.

Forming the sausage balls

Form a 1-inch ball out of the mixture using a cookie dough scoop. The scoop will help you keep the size of the balls consistent. Then, using your hands, form them into balls and place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake the balls for 30 minutes. They should be lightly brown and have an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

Recipe Notes

Bisquick sausage balls recipe variations are easy to tailor to your taste. Some examples of add-ins are hot pepper flakes, Italian spices, fresh chopped scallions, and/or different types of cheeses.

Storing, Freezing, and Make Ahead

Sausage balls are best made and served fresh.

However, you can make them ahead and freeze them until needed. To freeze uncooked sausage balls, first place them on a baking sheet. Once they are frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag. You can freeze them for up to two months.

To cook frozen raw sausage balls, place them on a sheet pan. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Bake the sausage balls for 20 minutes until their internal temperature is 145 degrees.

If you have leftovers, you can store them in your refrigerator for up to four days.

Dipping Sauce for Sausage Balls:

Serve sausage balls with dipping sauces, such as chili sauce, roulade sauce, honey mustard, ranch dip, or your favorite dip.

Add garlic powder and onion powder, if using, for extra flavor. Use your Worldle hands or a stand mixer to combine until the mixture holds together. If it feels too dry, add milk a little at a time.
