When you are craving the ultimate chocolate experience, Crockpot Hot Chocolate will be sure to satisfy your craving.
How to Make Crockpot Hot Chocolate
This creamy chocolate treat is super easy to make. It cooks for two hours, but worth the wait. It is the perfect recipe to feed a crowd or for a gathering or Christmas party hot chocolate bar. But, of course, everyone will want seconds, so you may want to double the recipe.

Crockpot or Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate ingredients
Ingredients
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Vanilla extract
- Heavy whipping cream
- Whole milk
- Sweetened condensed milk
Supplies
- Measuring cups and teaspoons
- Crockpot 6 quart
- Whisk
- Ladle
- Mugs (I like these Santa mugs) or paper cups
Instructions
This recipe is my favorite hot chocolate recipe. It is super easy, and it makes rich, velvety gourmet hot chocolate.
First, heat milk in the microwave or a saucepan on the stove until warm, then add it to my Crockpot. You can omit this step; however, you need to cook it longer in the Crockpot.
Secondly, place the chocolate chips, cocoa powder, heavy whipping, and vanilla in the Crockpot.

Add Heated Milk

Add remaining ingredients

Whisk all the ingredients together
Next, place the lid on the Crockpot and cook on low for two hours, stirring occasionally.

Crockpot Hot Chocolate Ready to enjoy
Serve immediately or transfer hot chocolate to the insulated server.
Note: You can switch your Crockpot to the warm setting and serve from the Crockpot.
Serve with marshmallows or whipped cream. Enjoy!
Can You Reheat Crockpot Hot Chocolate
Since Crockpot hot chocolate takes two hours to make, I like to make it a day ahead and refrigerate it.
Then to reheat, I place the hot chocolate in a heavy saucepan over medium-low heat. I stir it with a whisk until it is heated.
I like to serve it from an insulated carafe instead of spooning directly from the Crockpot.

Substitution Options
Can I substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips?
You may substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips for other flavors of chocolate chips or chopped or grated chocolate bars.
However, I do not recommend using white chocolate chips if you want an authentic chocolate flavor.
Can I use low-fat or fat-free milk?
The high-fat content of the whole milk gives this decadently chocolate beverage its smooth, creamy hot chocolate richness. Therefore, I would not use fat-free, but you substitute use low-fat milk if necessary.
