How to Make Cream Cheese Frosting

Place softened butter and a brick of cream cheese in a mixer bowl and cream together.

Add vanilla extract and salt to the butter mixture.

Next, add powdered sugar a little at a time, beating between each addition.

Cream cheese icing should be smooth, thick, and firm.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese (brick)
  • cup powdered sugar *
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • Place softened butter and a brick of cream cheese in a mixer bowl.
    Cream together using an electric mixer.
  • Add vanilla extract and salt to the butter mixture then blend to incorporate.
  • Next, add powdered sugar a little at a time, beating between each addition.

Notes

*Note: Add more powdered sugar if the frosting is too thin. If it is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk.

So perfect. Everyone thought they were professionally made. I only used 3 cups of powdered sugar and added a splash of milk to soften just a bit
