Natural peanut butter frosting
What Peanut Butter Should I use for Frosting?
You should avoid natural peanut butters that separate. It will produce a frosting that is a curdling oily mess. Natural peanut butter works great in my recipe for Peanut Butter Cookies and Peanut Butter Blossoms. Processed peanut butters, like Skippy or Jif, will produce the best texture. You should use creamy peanut butter for the best results if piping but crunchy could be used for other applications but I can not guarantee the result will be as light and fluffy.
Peanut butter icing ingredients
Ingredients
- Powdered sugar – Adds sweetness and thickens the frosting giving it structure. Powered sugar (aka confectioners’ sugar) is perfect for frosting because how easily it incorporates with other ingredients.
- Butter – Room temperature. Improves the flavor plus it adds richness and fat.
- Milk or heavy cream – Thins out the mixture while adding creaminess helping achieve the right texture.
- Creamy peanut butter – this is the base flavor a of the frosting.
- Vanilla flavor or vanilla extract – Enhances flavor and color.

How to Frost and Fill Cupcakes
Starting with your filling tip place it in your pastry bag and fill with Peanut Butter frosting. The easiest way to fill your pastry bag is to fit it over the edges of a jar. Note: You will need 1/4 cup of frosting for each cupcake (more if you like a lot of frosting).

Fluffy Peanut butter frosting is the perfect frosting for your chocolate cake and cupcakes
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 cups Confectioners sugar
- ½ cup butter (room temperature)
- 2 tablespoon milk
- ½ cup smooth peanut butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla flavoring
Instructions
- Using a stand mixer bowl cream together sugar, and butter
- Beat in peanut butter
- Add in milk and vanilla flavoring
- Beat until fluffy
Notes
- The icing recipe makes enough frosting to frost a 9" x 13" cake. I double it for cupcakes, sheet cakes, and layer cakes.
- Use creamy processed peanut butter for best results. A natural peanut butter that separates will produce a messy and impossible to use result.
- This peanut butter frosting can be pipped or spread on with a spatula.

When I look at comments for a recipe it is for the purpose to find out how the recipe worked. Not for comments regarding how 'great the recipe looks'. Why leave a comment if you haven't yet tried the recipe? I don't want your opinion on how it 'sounds' like it might be good. I want to know IF it's good and if there are any tweaks I may need to make.
